Colorado Scenic Tour – Scenic Destinations

Scenic excursions managed entirely by Colorado Scenic Tour are kid and senior friendly, and place an emphasis on sightseeing. The hikes and walks we recommend are generally within the comfort zone of anyone who is reasonably fit, but not entirely adapted to the altitude.

For Activity Excursions, we take care of the travel details and pick you up at your door so that you can relax and enjoy whatever adventure you choose. However – please remember that activities provided by other operators cover a wide range of physical demands and may not be suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

#11 • Rocky Mountain National Park

Depart: Vail

Duration: Two Day Overnight

Season: Late May to Mid-October

Our overnight excursions are generally created by combining two Full Day tours, but a visit to Rocky Mountain National Park would be wasted if we took you there and back in a single day.  This trip works best from Vail for drive time reasons, but we can do it from Aspen by special request.  Overnight accommodations in Estes Park range from modest motels to the beautiful and historic Stanley Hotel, so special planning will be necessary.

#12 • Dinosaur National Monument

Depart: Aspen or Vail

Duration: Two Day Overnight

Season: Year Round*

The trip to Dinosaur National Monument is just a bit too long for a single day, but allows ample time for a second destination as a two day tour.  We recommend adding Colorado National Monument, accessible year round, or our Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park stop if we are traveling between mid-April to late November.

*View on the left is from the Harpers Corner Scenic Drive, and access is weather dependent in winter.

#13 • Redstone & The Crystal River Valley

Depart: Aspen or Vail

Duration: Full Day

Read about some of the history of Redstone at the link above.  The Redstone Castle tour schedule can also be found on the same site.  However special tour times can be arranged for larger groups (or higher price per person) with a day or two of notice.

Leadville & The Sawatch Range

#14 • Leadville

Depart: Aspen or Vail

Duration: Full Day

Season: From Aspen or Vail – Late May to Late October

Season: From Vail – Year Round (Limited Winter Activities)

We have a slightly different program for the Leadville area, which is easily accessible from both Aspen and Vail during Spring, Summer and Fall, but only from Vail in the Winter.  Visitors from the Aspen side get the bonus of crossing the continental divide over Independence Pass (Elevation: 12,095 ft.), but will have slightly less time for other activities.  Regardless of your starting point, when you choose this tour, you pick any three of the options below.
